RZLBD is a boutique architectural practice based in Toronto founded by architect Reza Aliabadi. The ateliers work extends to designing buildings & objects, curating installations & expositions, and publishing a zine called rzlbdPOST. The practice is not just an ordinary operation that serves; rather like a positive virus, it contributes, communicates, challenges, and adapts itself to the needs of the project and its context.
Part monograph, part manifesto, RZLBD HOPSCOTCH questions the conventionality of the single family home through 12 built residential infill projects within the Greater Toronto Area. Exploring space through volumes and voids, RZLBD works to positively infect the urban context pixel by pixel.

Visionary Brazilian architect, urbanist and politician Jaime Lerner has received substantial recognition for his environmental and transportation initiatives and his work relating to the improvement of human settlements. Former president of the International Union of Architects (UIA), three-term mayor of Curitiba, Brazil, and twice governor of Parana State, he played a leading role both in the urban reinvention that gave Brazil a name for urban planning, socio-environmental programs and public transportation, and in the social and economic transformation of Parana.
We’re excited to be hosting the launch of Urban Acupuncture, the first of Jaime Lerner’s books to be published in English, on October 20, 2014.
By examining “pinpricks” of change – small interventions that bring people together and spark interest and action among the citizenry – Lerner invites us to re-imagine the true building blocks of vibrant communities in a discussion of “urban acupuncture.”
An RSVP to this event buys your ticket to ‘An Evening with Jaime Lerner’ and your copy of the book Urban Acupuncture.
Jaime Lerner will be available for book signing after the presentation.
Frank will be doing a drawing demonstration for the little ones. (Children are welcome too …)
With its rich colour palette of greys, olives, ambers and cream (it’s printed using nine colours instead of the usual four), Young Frank, Architect is a gorgeous publication, an inspiration for budding architects and a lesson for those who think they’ve seen everything.
